Open Source Audio Software
Audacity AudacityŽ is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds.
On first look this seems out of place in a math/science package. It has proven useful to demonstrate waveforms in 20 Physics.
Examples:
An Audacity Project with 2 sine waves at 400 Hz and 444 Hz
